The investments started to pour in 2012 with $2.1 million and jumped up to $92 million investments in 2013. At the end of 2014, the virtual currency has received a total of $ 284.5 million of investments.

Bitfury is one of the largest bitcoin mining operations in the world. It’s headquarters is in Amsterdam with datacenters based in Finland, Georgia and Iceland. Its investors are Binary Financial, Jonathan Teo, Bill Tai anf ZAD Investment Company which earned them $20 million in May 2014.
BitGo is a multi-signature bitcoin wallet provider with $12 million of VC investmentsin 2014. Investors include Bitcoin Oppurtunity Corporation, Redpoint Ventures, Crypto Currency Partners and more prominent names among others.
The bitcoin exchange company, OKCoin, is based in China and earned $10 million first round of Venture Capital – backed funding in March 2014. It was led by Ceyuan, then by Mandra Capital, VenturesLab and more other prominent investors.
